Today kicks off the Halloweekend and Halloween isn’t until Monday! So chances are you’re going to be looking for a fun activity in between making your Halloween costume, roasting pumpkin seeds and carving pumpkins… Yeah right! Well, here’s a spooky idea for Dinner and a Scary Movie that puts a little conversation back into movie night any time of the year. What do I mean? Head over to Babble’s Family Kitchen and watch Dinner and a Scary Movie to see for yourself.
SCAR-RE-SOURCES
Courtesy of Chef John of Foodwishes. Or should I call him Chef Johnnycakes? This is a very classic recipe for America’s First Pancakes, or Corn Cakes as I grew up calling them. If you’re wondering how I arrived at the combination of crab legs and johhnycakes, it’s based off one of my favorite meals, Grilled Shrimp and Corn Fritters. I can see crab legs and johhnycakes fitting the flavor profile very nicely… Add a side of spicy black beans and serve with guacamole. Thanks, Chef John for the great video!
REDRUM!
Drink of the Week and it’s creator Esteban Ordonez call it Bloody Rum Punch… but the combination of DonQ Cristal Rum, red wine and fresh fruit juices sounds murderously delicious by any name.

Tomato Bisque. This is my Tomato Soup recipe. You might call it a bisque. If you don’t, here are few others from around the internets that look good too:

Inspiration. The salad I dream of for my Dinner and a Scary Movie is inspired by a salad I had at The Arrogant Butcher in Phoenix, Arizona. Come to find out the actual salad is called Green Apples and Beets. It’s a memorable salad with Arugula, Pistachio and Gorgonzola Vinaigrette. See? No parallel… just really good! (Watch the video!)
A good way to go… Here’s a Molten Chocolate Cake from The New York Times that looks good enough to kill for!
