Quickie Taco! As you might already know, I love fish tacos. I crave fish tacos. And when the heat outside makes every kitchen appliance but the toaster or microwave prohibitive, I turn to the can opener. A can of tuna and a few key ingredients will make four of the finest (and coolest) tacos you’ve ever had. At least in a pinch.
Don’t care about the heat? Try my Baja Fish Tacos or Grilled Fish Tacos.
Ingredients for Tuna Fish Tacos:
1 five ounce can/jar tuna (in water)
2 tbsp diced onion
1 tbsp diced jalapeno
1 tbsp chopped cilantro
2 tbsp mayo
1 cup chopped cabbage
1/4 cup diced avocado
1/4 cup diced tomato
fresh lime
hot sauce or salsa
salt & pepper to taste
4 corn tortillas
Notes: Makes four tacos. Some chipotle powder or cumin would be a nice twist to the tuna fish salad. For even more crunch, add some crushed tortilla chips.
Directions:
Prepare the tuna fish. In a small bowl combine drained tuna, onion, jalapeno, cilantro and a squeeze of fresh lime.
Stir in mayonnaise and hot sauce. Salt and pepper to taste.
Build the tacos. Warm or toast tortillas briefly in the microwave or toaster. Spoon 1/4 of the mixture onto each tortilla.
Top with shredded cabbage, diced tomato and avocado. Serve with lime and salsa or hot sauce. Share and enjoy. And try to stay cool…

Just speaking hypothetically of course, but would you be as likely to step into a trap baited with tuna fish tacos as you would one baited with fish tacos?? LOL

Hi seti!! I could be fooled… I’m a sucker for fish tacos… maybe the real question is: Would I be more likely to be baited by a fish taco or a corn dog? LOL
seti says
Ah yes, corn dogs. Thank you. It’s good to have options…hypothetically speaking. :) Maybe a bottle of wine as well. Wine and corn dogs and fish tacos! Who could resist that?! LOL

you should try this with sardines – and for an added kick try the ones in tomato sauce –

didn’t have everything on hand but was dead set last night on making tuna tacos, so i used dried onion and canned diced jalapeno instead of fresh, thai chili sauce instead of hot sauce, no lettuce, shredded cheddar, and diced fresh mango on top. too delicious, too easy, i’m making them again tonight, thanks for the recipe :)
