Fusion Fast Food Five

One of the hottest food fusion phenomenons to hit Los Angeles is the Kogi BBQ Truck, a Korean-Mexican street-food-fanatic’s delight. And it’s not just the short rib tacos and kimchi quesadillas causing a stir. In fact, much of the tweeting about Kogi is, well, Twitter! Kogi uses Twitter to announce its next destination and, upon arrival, there’s usually a hungry crowd of 200+ waiting to dig into tasty Korean-Mexican fare. And people love it! Can you say Roach Coach 2.0?

Betty first heard about Kogi on Good Food with Evan Kleiman, and their Korean-Mexican fusion definitely inspired her! So, by combining elements of her favorite cuisines, Thai and Mexican, Betty rolls up a little fusion of her own: Thai-Mexican Rolls w/ Peanut Dipping Sauce.

But that’s not the only fusion Betty’s dishin’ up. No Ma’am, she’s also servin’ some video fusion in Part Two of her Las Vegas edition of the Fast Food Five. In Part Two, Betty rallies Celebrity Chefs Evan Kleiman, Richard Blais, Mary Sue Milliken and Susan Feniger to see if they got game outside of the kitchen. Check out Fast Food Five: NATPE 2009 (Part Two).

TECH TALK WITH BROADBAND BETTY

Although Betty’s alma mater, UCLA, takes Stanford to school on the basketball court these days, there’s no competing with the Cardinal when it comes to tech companies. One of the latest born out of Stanford is Zunavision, which enables content creators like Betty to dynamically insert relevant offers and sponsorship without shouting about it or interrupting the show. The in-video GoDaddy coupons in Betty’s latest Fast Food Five: NATPE 2009 (Part Two) were inserted using Zunavision… and those Betty coupon codes can save you some jack!

Al at The Fun Times Guide did a write-up on Betty calling her the SNL of Cooking Videos. OMG, that’s unbelievable! Al writes, “Average Betty does for cooking what Saturday Night Live does for the nightly news.” Thanks, Al! Betty couldn’t ask for a better review! But Al makes an interesting point saying it’s “hard to know” Betty. What? Is this true? Betty is surprised to hear this considering she’s always available to answer questions… either in the comments, on Twitter, on Facebook, or email. What do you think? Is Betty hard to know?

Betty could hardly believe her eyes! Betty’s Tortilla Soup and Obama Girl Burger were featured together on Tastespotting! The perfect Valentine’s gift for a foodie like Betty! Thanks, Tastespotting! Betty loves you!

Betty’s Obama Girl Burger greased -err- graced the pages of A Hamburger Today! If you haven’t checked out AHT, what are you waiting for? It’s all the burger news, reviews and artery-clogging fun you can have without a napkin. Thanks, AHT! Betty loves you! And be sure to watch Obama Girl in the Fast Food Five: NATPE 2009 (Part One) video.

Korean bbq is all over the web world these days. We had a feast on our new electric counter top grill last week and can’t get enough of Korean bbq.
Start the revolution.

We love, love the Thai-Mexican Rolls recipe. I made it for dinner last night and we enjoyed it so much. We had the leftovers for lunch today. I check your site whenever I get a chance. Good stuff! Hope all is well with you both. Haven’t talked to Mom lately but hope all is well there also. I think you’ve been through some unusual weather out there this winter, haven’t you? We just had a foot of snow here, which has melted off since yesterday was warm and today is 75. Love to you both, Aunt Janet

Aunt Janet! WooHoo! How amazing that you tried my Thai-Mexican Rolls! I’m so glad you liked them and wrote to tell me! Mom is fine and some wacky weather all-around. I just returned from Palm Springs and it was a glorious 75; home in LA it’s a bit cooler and cloudier. Love to you all…
