Is it a knife skill? Or a life skill?
This is the kind of simple, common sense tip that seems almost silly to share. But, the magnitude of the No-Duh Moment that accompanies this advice is too overwhelming to ignore.
In fact, I’ve shared this tip in a blog post before. The response was so great, I decided to make a video sharing the same valuable tip with my YouTube subscribers.
The culinary world is probably a safer place without me teaching knife skills; this one tip will keep it a sharper place.
Watch That’s Sharp and never be caught crowding the kitchen, dulling knives again!
THAT’S NOT A KNIFE! Toshio Sakamaki, Executive Sushi Chef of Ozumo Santa Monica has the most amazing knife skills I have ever seen. Check them out in The Wizard of Ozumo (above).
Get chopping! Not dulling…

Hi! I haven’t visited in a while. This was fun to watch. I liked your question about tipping. I also like that you said “sushi chef” so well. I would have tripped on that 100 times at least. impressive interview and demo!

Dear Way Better Than Average Betty,
Not using plastic cutting boards will also keep you knives sharper longer.
Just saying..

Amee, So nice to have you drop by! I miss you… Camp Blogaway was awesome but definitely missing your smiling face :)
I think I practiced saying “sushi chef” about 100 times before that demo and I still slipped a bunch! Thank you!!

Dear Bkhuna,
Indeed… but my world is a happier place with plastic cutting boards.
