Social Dining Service. Yes, you read that correctly.
If you haven’t been able to arrange dinner parties with people using Twitter, Facebook, Foursquare and Google+, have no fear. There’s a new kind of social networking platform called BlendAbout that matches you with other, like-minded individuals for meals.
I read about BlendAbout in Chef John Malik’s Huffington Post column, and as someone that has spent time dining alone, he seems to think it’s a service with merit.
Head over to Family Kitchen, watch Dinner With Strangers and share your thoughts on this new kind of social networking in the comments.

I really like the idea and the possibilities that come with it.
Meeting new, like minded people is a great thing.
Especially if with a platform like this, people know that you are just looking for one to have dinner with, and not (like on real dating sites) expect that you are “the one”.
I would definately use this… but sadly it is only for the US and Canada and not for europe.
But I will keep an eye on the project and if they will expand over the ocean I will join in.
So thanks for the suggestion. :)

I think the idea that you do have “lowered expectations” (lol) is a good point. Conversation without the pressure of dating :) Love your thoughts, Jan!
