Birds, wildflowers and butterflies. Lawn mowing, pollen and sneezing. Income tax commercials up the wazoo. And khaki cargo pants on every mannequin in the mall. The look of Spring is very familiar.
But what about taste? What does Spring taste like to you?
For me, Spring tastes like vanilla. Vanilla Cupcakes in particular. Cupcakes that are rich with buttermilk and brown sugar and full of Spring Spirit! Bake up a dozen to share on green grass under a blue sky. Just have plenty of Benadryl on hand.

After frosting the Vanilla Cupcakes, I had a thought: Why not sprinkle a bit of sweetened, shredded coconut on top of the buttercream? So I did, and wow! Wow! WOW! Buttery moist and Coconutty sweet. It was a little piece of nirvana that conjured childhood memories…
When my Mom didn’t have time to bake a cake for a special occasion, she would pick up a Pepperidge Farm Coconut Cake. My entire family would anxiously gather around my Mom as she, with the precision of a surgeon, sliced the cake into eight equal portions. Then the symphony of forks on porcelain began; clinking and scraping for every last crumb. Ahhh. Tastes like Spring Spirit!

your so funny, we use to get all giddy about that coconut pepperidge farm cake too. The cupcakes look great, definitely spring spirit!
