What is your freakish food fave? Leave a comment.
Everyone encounters a freaky-food combination at some point in their life… whether it’s something you eat or something someone else eats. Like your “friend” that dips french fries in his Frosty. Or the girl that brings the Fluffernutter for lunch everyday. It’s no wives tale that pickles and ice cream are the staple of pregnancy. What’s the freakiest food combination you (or your “friends”) have ever eaten? The one that makes people recoil and exclaim, “Oh no you didn’t!”
I’m going with the BBQ Chicken Mac n’ Cheese Pizza. Perhaps it won’t become a freaky-food classic like the Fluffernutter, but for me the BBQ Chicken Mac n’ Cheese Pizza was a Eureka! moment of carbo-licious proportions! One part “What if?” and one part “Oh no!” equals one resounding “Oh yes I did!” The crunch of thin crust, the creaminess of mac n’ cheese, and the tang of barbecued chicken is a freaky-food combination worthy of a “Oh no you didn’t!”

When I was a SR in HS a friend put butter pecan ice cream on buttered toast. I said “ewww” and then she got me to try it. I didn’t want to stop eating it! ha ha.
MY DIL does the fries in the frosty!!
SippitySup says
I like anise flavors (licorice) with melon. Is that freaky? Or does it just cement my place in your vision of SippitySup as “Food Snob”? GREG

BBQ Chicken Mac n’ Cheese Pizza now that is just an odd combination! I can imagine it tastes delicious but it is so weird! lol

I think I am LOVING that mac and cheese pizza. And french fries in milkshakes or ice cream? Been there, done that.
Hm. My freakist food concoctions? I have quite a few, but my fave is a grilled cheese sandwich with jam, cheddar cheese, pickles, PB, banana, ketchup. tee hee hee!

brenda t! Corn chips n’ icecream? That is a pretty freaky combo ;) I love it!
Peggy O mmm pink mashed potatoes! LOL. But hey, if ketchup is good on fries, why not potatoes?
OK. Honey B. Butter Pecan Ice cream on buttered toast? That is definitely crazy!! So crazy, I may need to try it!
Sippity… I don’t think you’re a food snob!! You couldn’t possibly be and show up around these parts! And anise with melon sounds pretty good to me too!
Jessie, Joanne, Gotta tell you. It is weird! But it is so good! And carbo-licious!!
sophia, So glad you are loving the BBQ Mac Pizza! So far, you’re “grilled cheese sandwich with jam, cheddar cheese, pickles, PB, banana, ketchup” is the craziest thing I’ve ever heard!!
Love y’all!

Our family’s fav pizza is canadian bacon, pineapple, and banana peppers, some think its odd, I think its the best. And thanks so much about your post on pizza dough, the tip about the stickier the dough the better helped my crust alot. Still not perfection, but its closer! Another odd one my granny got me hooked on is vidalia onion and mayo sandwiches. Maybe she just didn’t want boys around me, LOL!

One of my family favorites is the Spaghetti and Egg Sandwich made from leftover spaghetti and meat sauce with scrambled eggs to make kind of a fritatta that you cut to size and put on toast with mozzarella and more sauce. Sounds weird but I swear if you eat it you will LOVE it…. I posted about it a while back. Check it out and let me know what you think ; )

I LOVE the crazy food, ladies!
Angie, I think I’d love to try banana peppers on pizza! And I’m so happy that Mama Betty’s tip on “sticky dough” helped your pizza crust! Sa-weet!
Jessica, Spaghetti and scrambled egg sandwich is insane! I’m totally checkin’ it ;)
Hi Ivy, Thanks for the sweet words about my column! Bacon and Jelly… I bet that’s some salty sweet goodness!
Love y’all,
Betty

Your blog is fantastic! My ” interesting” food combonation would have to be french fries dipped in ketchup and mayo. Mmmmm so good!
Average Betty says
Nothing crazy about that Sarah! They dip their fries in mayo in Germany… and I may have been known to do it too, once upon a time :)
Seth @ Boy Meets Food says
OK, here is my fav, crazy food combo… Peanut Butter, Miracle Whip, and banana sandwich. Note… not mayo, it has to be miracle whip. There is something about the creamy peanut butter, and tangy miracle whip that is awesome. Mix in the sweetness from the banana, and it is the perfect sandwich.
I can’t even tell you how many people have told me they think it sounds disgusting, then I get them to try it, and it becomes their new favorite sandwich!
