Self-defense is no joking matter, but… if you live in The Hood like Betty does, then you know it’s tough out there on the streets. So unless you have more “street cred” than Snoop Dogg, you best be prepared to defend yourself!

The good news is that there are many options when it comes to self-defense; the bad news is that there are many options when it comes to self-defense. Which self-defense strategy should YOU choose, and how do you know if it will be effective?

Betty wants to be prepared, so she reviews her self-defense strategy and decides it could use some help. After trying the conventional self-defense techniques, Betty searches for something more her style and finds a new product that appears to be right up her alley: The Chicken Satay-ser!

You are greatest cook in the WORLD!”… it’s cause for dancing in the streets, high fives and, believe it or not, Betty got a little choked up. Emilie, hearing from YOU has changed Betty’s life!

And while Betty loves to hear that you dig her recipes… there is a special place in her heart when she hears you like the Betties. Sancroff wrote to say, “Betty the Kid is so true-to-life she borders on the terrifying (in addition to being very funny)! Betty’s Georgia Peach in Sin City, Karen M, wrote to say, “Betty – your camp counselor sounds a bit like the folks back home, lol. You are a FUNNY GIRL :)” Although Betty’s an official Valley girl now, she grew up in the South… and had to break herself of saying “y’all!” Big shout out to you and Lettuce!

Camp Counselor Betty got some serious love from Paul B! Paul wrote to say, “You looked purdy darn convincing as camp counselor Betty, are you originally from Tennessee?” Not from Tennessee… but Betty does love Tennessee and the song by Arrested Development!

And of course, Betty loves to hear about the recipes! The Betties in Fish Camp made a splash and thankfully so did the Grilled halibut! Sandra B, all the way from Denmark, wrote to tell Betty, “The photos alone are already tasteful! They look very professional and colorful. And I’m not just speaking about this recipe! My compliments!” Thanks, Sandra. It was great fun emailing with you… Betty can’t wait to see your first video!

Betty gives a huge shout-out to Midge M of Arizona who always shows up for team Betty on Yahoo! Video. On Fish Camp, Midge wrote, “You’ve bested yourself yet again, AB! Great talent; great recipe! Just for the halibut, I’m going to try it out tomorrow night! Thanks!” Thank you, Midge! Your comment had Betty in stitches (and not from the fishing line and hook!).

Fish Camp also called Earthworm Envy to action! Brandon wrote to say, “Here in the mountains we don’t have halibut. However lots of trout. You’ve made me hungry. Looks like I’m going fly fishing.” Now that’s what Betty calls Fish Camp!

And who doesn’t love chocolate? Betty heard from Pinay in the Philippines about CSI: Cookie Sundae Investigation and had a request, “Hi Betty, I wish you could feature non bake cakes, b’coz honestly we don’t have an oven at home.. (in our country, Philippines, oven is not a necessity, so long as you have a gas stove, you’re good to go).” Pinay, Betty is on it! That’s a true “food hack” Betty can get into! Stay tuned, Pinay!

Alain wrote to say, “WOW !!! The best thing since Billie Holiday and vanilla ice cream with hot chocolate !!!” Betty loves all those things, Alain… and she loves you too! Thanks for writing, and for the sweet, sweet words!

Your dishes look flavorful, quick, and you use common ingredients in Epic proportions.” Betty’s always happy to make a former restaurant manager smile… it’s the least she can do for all the grief she caused her managers back in the day!
