Summer rocks! So many fun things to do… like swimming, vacationing, and eating ice cream! And what could be more fun (and secretly educational) than making ice cream?
Unfortunately, Global Warming threatens to melt our beloved ice cream and reduce it to a mere glass of sweet milk. Fear not! Teen Betty and Tween Betty are here to protect ice cream and fight Global Warming! Or at least that’s the story they tell Average Betty before hijacking her show!
Will Teen Betty & Tween Betty save ice cream from Global Warming? Is making homemade ice-cream-in-a-bag the yummiest science experiment ever? Will Average Betty’s nieces put her out of a job? Watch An Inconvenient Dessert to find out for yourself!

BREAKING BETTY REVIEWS!
One of the premier food web sites, iFoods.tv, just launched a video podcast! Betty has been an active member of the iFoods.tv community since their launch in 2007, so she was really excited to see she was featured in the first episode of the iFoods.tv video podcast! The podcast is really fun… Niall Harbison, Sean Fee and Barry Harbison knock a couple back and review food-related online content. The style is reminiscent of Digg Nation, but the content is food. Way cool! And if you haven’t checked out the iFoods.tv web site, you gotta check it out! It is a goldmine of amazing video recipes, primarily produced by iFoods.tv (featuring Master Chef Niall Harbison), but they also feature some quality community videos like Average Betty!
Darryl Scott of Black Hole Online reviewed Average Betty and although he says the jokes are bad and the editing is nausea-inducing, he finds Average Betty to be “a fundamentally-solid cooking program that’s smart, friendly, and as intimidating as a plate of fresh-baked cookies.” And though Betty might not agree with the assessment of her jokes, Mr. Scott nails the fact that, “Betty likes what she’s doing and, more importantly, she likes the people who are watching. Julia Child would be so proud of her.” Thanks for the review Darryl… Betty does love her viewers :)
AVERAGE BETTY SIGHTINGS
Marc B from Savannah, GA sent in this picture of his kicked up Hoffepeños! Yum! Marc’s poppers are stuffed with cream cheese, ground sausage and a little hot sauce. And yes, that’s thick-sliced bacon too! For added zing, Marc brushes on a bbq sauce that has a little sweetness to it and lets it sit long enough to reduce slightly and thicken. Rock on, Marc! Thanks for sharing this delicious photo!
WHAT’S BETTY BEEN UP TO?
Two words: Aunt Betty! That’s right, Betty had two of her nieces, Lauren and Gillian, out for a cool summer vacation! They had a great time chillin’ at the pool, riding the subway into Hollywood, checking out the sites at Hollywood & Highland, strolling the Walk of Fame, exploring in Venice, filming an Average Betty episode, hitting the surf in Encinitas and having beach and s’more parties with more family (niece Keely and nephews Garrett and Griffin) in North County San Diego!

I really enjoy what you blog about here, very fresh and intelligent. One problem though, I’m running Firefox on Fedora and some of your layout pieces are a little wonky. I realize it’s not a common setup, but it’s still something to watch out for. Just shooting you a heads up.
Average Betty says
Hi Suzy! Thanks for the QA ;) We <3 linux and linux users around here, and surprised to hear the site is not rendering well in firefox on linux :( If you provide a little more info we can look into it — what versions of firefox and fedora? And if you could email (betty at averagebetty dot com) a screenshot of what you are seeing, that would be the icing on the cake.
Cheers,
Betty
