Several years ago while visiting Boston, I approached a fire station and said, “Hi,” to the firemen sitting on the front bumper of their truck. They noticed the camera in my hand and offered to take a photo. I happily agreed and leaned back onto the bumper between two of the heroes.
Just before the photo was snapped, one of the firemen places his heavy, iconic hat on my head.
“Wow. Your helmet smells like a fire,” I say.
The fireman looks me right in the eye, smiles an all-knowing smile and says in his perfect Boston accent, “We’re not playing around over here.”
If you have ever purchased a product labeled “spicy” only to be disappointed by the lack of three-alarm fire, you must try All Spice Cafe sauces, jams and snacks.
Just like the Boston firefighter, All Spice Cafe is not playing around over here.
They have a new line of sweet and fiery snacks that includes XXX Sweet Habanero Popcorn and Extreme Heat Sweet Ghost Pepper Popcorn (top photo). Even their Mild Sweet Chile Popcorn packs a decided punch.
Award winning All Spice Cafe also makes Gourmet Hot Sauces with flaming flavors like Chipotle Garlic, Cayenne Habanero, Caribbean Spice and Jolokia Ghost Pepper. Their sauces are more about flavor than heat, so they’re not as over the top hot as their snacks.
Jam on it!
But it’s All Spice Cafe’s new Jolokiberry Jam that really revs my imagination and tingles my taste buds. Whatever you do, don’t mistake this for the Smuckers. Sweet Strawberries with the creeping heat of Ghost Pepper transform a Jam Filled Sugar Cookie (above) into a surprising, balanced treat of heat and sweet.
To make the cookies: Use my classic Sugar Cookie Recipe but instead of cutting shapes, roll the dough into individual balls. Flatten balls slightly before baking. When hot from the oven, make a depression and fill with All Spice Cafe Jolokiberry Jam. Dust with powdered sugar and be sure to warn Grandma before passing the plate.
For a savory, spicy bite that requires no baking, a simple slice of rustic bread smeared with rich, triple cream Cambozola and a dollop of All Spice Cafe Jolokiberry Jam will elevate more than the Scoville rating of any cheese course.
