ORIGINAL POST FROM Nov 6, 2008:
Like many of you all over the world, Betty was glued to the TV and internet on Tuesday, November 4th following the historic election results of 2008. Betty was amazed by the hologram graphics that turned CNN into an episode of Star Trek; she was fascinated by reports of long lines at polling places; and she wondered how many sweet Krispy Kreme doughnuts, creamy scoops of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, and strong cups of joe were given away? (And you thought the lines at the polls were long.)
Whether you were gunning for McCain or hoping for Obama, one thing was certain: 2008 would not provide the sequel to the agonizing 2000 election. In what seemed like no time, the sufficient number of states were colored blue on magic maps and ice rinks alike. Senator John McCain conceded graciously, Governor Palin was muted, and President-Elect Barack Obama made his historic victory speech to the world reiterating the messages that likely won him the election: Hope and Change.
And, finally, after the drama of two long years of campaigning, the real Obama girls are getting a puppy, yo! Betty can’t wait to see the lucky canine that succeeds Barney in the White House Dog House! Hopefully she doesn’t snap at reporters ;)
So, in the spirit of change for America, Betty hopes she inspires change to the same ol’ breakfast bread with her latest recipe, American as Apple Oatmeal Muffins! Like the USA, these muffins are sure to give you a fresh start to a new day!
