Join me on the Universal Studios Hollywood backlot for an inside look at the 28th American Wine & Food Festival and an exclusive interview with Chef Thomas Keller! Watch the Proud to be American Wine & Food Video to see what food, wine and interview questions are served up!
Since the American Wine & Food Festival is an evening party, the lighting conditions for video are not ideal. However, thanks to the great sportsmanship of Chef Thomas Keller, we conducted our interview in the glaring spotlight designed to make Audi automobiles look good and shiny. Really, really shiny. Thanks a million, Chef!
Thomas Keller has restaurants from Yountville to Las Vegas and New York. Keller’s flagship restaurant, The French Laundry, is one of only three restaurants in the US to receive a Three Star Michelin rating. The French Laundry is named year-after-year in the annual Restaurant Magazine list of the Top 50 Restaurants of the World. Keller was also named Best California Chef in 1996. That’s big time stuff! The beautiful photo above, courtesy of Deborah Jones, is a signature dish offered at The French Laundry: Cornets of Marinated Atlantic Salmon – Salomon tartare with sweet red onion crème fraiche presented in a black sesame ‘cone.’
No question, Thomas Keller is revered for many reasons, but his famous Ad Hoc fried chicken is the stuff of which legends are made. Get the recipe here. Buy the award-winning cookbook here.
An annual event since 1982, American Wine & Food has helped the Puck-Lazaroff Charitable Foundation raise more than $15 million for the Meals On Wheels Programs of Los Angeles. Read our full recap of the 28th American Wine & Food Festival here.
